Too bad that this is completely flawed. I hate to bring it up, but in the past, Billboard was flawed, as if a song wasn't dropped as a single tape, record, or CD, it lost about 50% of its ability to climb the charts. Best example, Backstreet Boys, I Want it That Way. It was the most played song on the radio for 6 months in 1999, but because it was never released as a purchasable single, it only reached #6. Everyone remembers that song!... more

Pinkstar, Sales are everything?!? Are u F'n kidding me. I mean, men lie, women lie, numbers don't, but if people are close, then the music wins out. I mean, if numbers are all it is, 808s has sold more, Paper Trail has sold more in the past year. Your point is silly.... more

Cheat, I agree. Drake is hot, but just dropped an EP. Gucci Mane doesn't even have a hot single. They put Jeezy on because of Obama, cuz if you put Jeezy on for his album last summer, well TI had the hottest album last summer, and still has hot songs coming out monthly... while in jail! The top 5 I agree with, being on the list, but my original list was Em at #2. The only way they could say he doesn't belong on the list is because he is more of a Pop entity then a Hip-Hop entity. Because his album was ...... more

They are talking about his consistency. No one has stayed as relevant with as much music as Jay-Z has. And Eminem sold 31 million in the US, Jay-Z has sold 30 million, your not proving a lot, except that Eminem was a teeny bopper phenomenon for the first half of the decade.... more

Ugh, will you people stop whining! Eminem sold that much back in 2001. Why don't we put Nsync on the list for selling 2.4 million back then, yay! I agree he should be somewhere on the list, but Jay-Z earned the top spot. Eminem has none of the other intangibles to be on the list besides sales. No lasting singles, nothing online or on TV to keep him in the spotlight, aka, hot. If it weren't for "Forever", he wouldn't have even made my list, because Relapse was his worst album to date. I don't agree wit...... more

Napster, lol. Way to stay relevant. Soulja Boy has more hits then 50 on the interwebs, does that make him hotter then 50? Just cuz your have one thing in '09 doesn't mean you have everything, and the internet is not the first thing people are looking for on the hottest MCs list. Gee, what could it be... oh yea, being a hot MC. I loved Get Rich... but 50 hasn't garnered a nationwide hit this year and his War Angel is overrated. Just cuz he talks greazy, doesn't make it Get Rich... Fab actually dropped an ...... more

Y'all need to chill with the Officer Ricky $#!+. Its as played out as G-Unit in 2004. He makes good music, WTF does it matter what one job he had. That doesn't discredit anything he might have done on the street, and it doesn't discredit that he is an artist and this is music. Stop being such sheep. It's like watching Fox news.... more

It's not up to this vote, thank god. People are too ignorant. And this is Em's worst flow, track for track, to date. He sounds like he has Triumph the Insult Comic Dog voice on like 80% of the tracks. That is his worst flow, and that's what he makes his singles. Crack a Bottle, BS, We Made You, his worst single. Em, you gotta come better then that, and u can. I have faith. Forever was incredible, but I think he did everyone else kinda dirty, by switching his flow, as he was the last one to record, and th...... more

Top 10 1) Jay-Z 2) Eminem 3) Lil Wayne 4) Drake 5) Rick Ross 6) Fabolous 7) Joe Budden 8) The Game 9) 50 Cent 10) Raekwon It's the most practical list I could think of, without (much) fav artist bias. Enough with the name calling of Officer Ricky, he has the hottest mixtape out right now, by far, and Deeper Then Rap was his best album to date. 50 drops some very talked about mixtapes, but can't drop a album to save his life. Jay-Z is the hottest right now, and with 11 #1 albums, the most consistent ...... more

You can't ban someone from music. Stop being fools! Athlete's have contracts with stipulations that get them banned. Their are no rules in music. He couldve said this in a song, and people would have said what a clever line. On the other end of the spectrum, Great musicians become drug addicts, ie, anyone from the Beatles to the Rolling Stones, to Eminem, no one calls for a ban of their art. It's called perspective, people, use some. ... more

Holy $#!+, people are really wigging out on this situation. I mean, yes it was pretty stupid on Kanye, (especially since B' later won the 'Video of the Year' Award) but people, its the F'n VMAs. Jeez, get some frickin perspective. Boycotts of the man's music and fined(?) are ridiculous. This is Kanye, this is what he does, but the moment he does it to a little white girl, ish hits the fan. I can understand, but come on, to what extent is what people are saying worse then the act itself. ... more

No. LoL And neither would MTV, be with ya. They had some of the best ratings ever for the VMAs, much of it being because of the buzz of what kanye did at the beginning of the show. Im not ok with what he did, but its the VMAs, not a presidential speech. Kanye was out of line, but is an entertainer, and everyone is entertained, no way or another. et's see: Deadly Mariah diss. Tim Westwood freestyle fire. Terrific Cool J Hip Hop Honors tribute. Oh, and haven't you heard? There's a song called "Forever" where the white boy murders three of your top 4. In the year of his comeback, one of the greatest of all-time is straight disrespected. I'm in a state of shock like Mick Jagger.

EMINEM HAS THE HIGHEST SELLING ALBUM OF 2009

    1. Achievements: Just this year, Eminem won “Best Hip Hop Video” at MTV’s Own Award Show. His “Relapse” album has gone over the Platinum status and he just happen to be the biggest artist in the world.

    3. Influence: Not considering the face that Eminem is the most sot-after artist, but Lil Wayne himself has gone public many times practically begging Eminem to do a song with him oh and Eminem inducted Run-DMC into the Hall Of Fame.

    6. Buzz: Eminem’s “Relapse” album was by far the most anticipated album of 2009 and now his “Relapse 2” album is beyond the next most anticipated. Let's not forget that MTV itself used Eminem to boost ratings of their Movie Awards by staging a stunt with Bruno or getting him to do Shorts/Skits with Tracy Morgan for the recent Video Music Awards

    4. Web Presence: Besides winning MTV’s own “Hottest MCs” Poll by far with over 38% of the votes (2nd place only had 18%), news stories, websites or any item containing Eminem’s name quickly becomes the number one trafficked item online. Let's not forget to mention that if you go to MTV.com, they list Eminem #6 on the "Hot Artists" list, but I guess that doesn't mean MCs.
